What is FBR Breathwork?

Alex providing hands-on breathwork facilitation during an FBR session.

Breathwork, without the performance. Facilitated Breath Repatterning (FBR) combines conscious connected breathing with hands-on practitioner support - attuned touch and bodywork, ranging from gentle to firmer, guided by what your nervous system needs in the moment.

Rather than trying to change your experience, we become curious about it. As you breathe, your breath begins to reveal the patterns your body has developed over time. Together, we gently explore those patterns with awareness, compassion and support.

Who is this for?

People often come to FBR when they are:

  • Navigating stress, anxiety, or overwhelm

  • Moving through grief or significant life transitions

  • Carrying chronic tension in the body

  • Feeling disconnected from themselves or others

  • Wanting to understand their own patterns rather than keep repeating them

  • Curious about what their breath and body have to say

Why FBR Breathwork is different

FBR practitioners complete over 400 hours of in-person training - there's no online component, because this work is learned through the body, not a screen.

Where many breathwork styles push toward catharsis, FBR moves at the pace your nervous system can actually integrate. We work gradually, building your capacity to activate and settle again, rather than overwhelming you and leaving you to find your way back afterward.

This approach draws on nervous system science - including Polyvagal Theory and Somatic Experiencing - alongside Traditional Chinese Medicine and parts-work. Grounded and evidence-informed, without losing the human element.

Meet Alex

Alex found breathwork while searching for a different relationship with herself, her body, and her inner world. After immersive training in Bali and 400 hours in Facilitated Breath Repatterning, she founded Humans of Breath to hold that same space for others - one where nothing needs fixing, only understanding.

Wondering if this is for you?

  • "Do I need breathwork experience?"

Not at all. Most people who come to a circle or 1:1 have never done breathwork before. You'll be guided every step of the way, and there's no "right" way to do it.

  • "What if emotions like anger or sadness come up?"

Whatever comes up is welcome. Anger, sadness, laughter, stillness - all of it has a place here. Nothing is required of you, and you're held and supported through whatever arises.

  • "What if I'm not good at meditating?"

FBR isn't meditation, and there's no "doing it right." Your breath does the work; you simply let it.
